Crippled by Debt.  It’s a phrase you often hear, and it’s an accurate description. Being in debt is like being chained to a block of concrete you have to drag everywhere with you. It’s the ever-present reality at every Christmas or birthday; it looms large when the fridge goes on the blink; it soon becomes just one of many problems. Sometimes relief comes out of the blue – an over-payment or mistake in benefits for example – but they always want it back, and by that time it’s often gone.

The only way out of debt for most people is to get help from an organisation like CAP – Christians Against Poverty.  CAP is a charity and, unlike the many companies who advertise on TV, it does not charge for its services.

Because we believe that God does not want people to be crippled by debt, we run a CAP Centre here at Holy Trinity Tulse Hill.  In partnership with CAP, we visit you, assess your situation , set a realistic budget, and support you in setting a portion aside to pay off your debts.  If you need to go through insolvency, CAP will also support you in this.  CAP will negotiate with all your creditors, relieving the stress of constant phone calls and letters.
